Old Town Canoe-Kayaks, designer and manufacturer of classic, yet innovative, watercraft for over 100 years. After a strong run as the largest canoe manufacturer in the world, Old Town made its first kayak in 1940. By 1970 Old Town Canoe-Kayaks had won national awards for material innovation with its fiberglass boats and was the exclusive manufacturer of canoes and kayaks to the US Team. Since then, Old Town has helped reshape the canoe and kayak industry by being the first to bring Royalex® and rotomolded plastic boats to market.
Today Old Town Canoe-Kayaks continues to advance the canoe and kayak tradition through design and material innovation. Old Town has been a pioneer in innovative materials for canoes and kayaks that provide rigidity and resiliency, lightweight and long life, attractive looks and affordable prices.
Old Town’s rotomolded kayaks and canoes use a high grade material that is a compounded blend of polyethylene found in both our single layer and three layer polyethylene processes. This blend is designed to maximize the distribution of polymer in the kayak tools which help us to build lighter boats and provides the stiffness needed to ensure your boat will hold up to the impacts that may be encountered during your adventure.
Old Town’s recreation kayaks include classic models such as the Loon Series as well as newer models like the Heron, Vapor and Dirigo. Other kayak favorites include family-friendly tandem models and angler-specific kayaks. Old Town canoes have provided years of tradition. Designed for expeditions or a weekend of family fun, Old Town Canoe-Kayaks models include long time favorites such as the Discovery Series, Guide Series and Penobscot Series as well as the Saranac Series and Charles River. Our Rogue River and Next canoes are also top sportsman choices.
