Robinson Preserve Paddle Trip June 2022

The Robinson Preserve Paddle Trip June 2022 was A great day of paddling.

The weather was nice, a warm June Florida day with a few clouds but no hint of rain. A few other kayakers and paddleboards were exploring the park with us but it wasn’t too crowded in the park.  There were lots of Osprey’s out in the park, a few great blue Heron and white heron were around.  Kim spotted a diamond back terrapin a rare turtle.  The last time we did this trip the waterway was blocked in the mangrove tunnel.  So this time we didn’t do the usual loop, for fear of having to portage or paddle all the way back around.  We paddled on the outside and had lunch. Then backtracked to paddle the inside channels.  When we found the mangrove tunnel from the inside, we found it was open again and we paddle out to the bayou through the mangroves.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the adventure through the trees or at least a shady reprieve from the sun.  The blue-green algae’s starting to accumulate in areas with a thick batch at the takeout for lunch.  Hopefully it doesn’t get as bad as previous years that they closed off parts of the park.  A few people made the climb up the observation tower for the amazing views of the area.  It was a great day on the water thank you to all the fun people who came out and shared the day with us.
